Welcome to PERFORM – an intuitive way of calculation of resistance of ships for mobile platforms. PERFORM provides the engineering tools based on recognized regression analyses for resistance and power prediction of displacement and semi-planning hulls. PERFORM is available on App Store for download and compatible with iPhones and iPads.

PERFORM can be used to predict the resistance and effective power of ships and fast crafts during design stages. There are five methods available for displacement hulls and one method for semi-planing hulls / planing hulls in displacement mode.

The methods available in present version are

• Displacement Hulls
o Holtrop-Mennen – combined ’82 and ’84 method
o Van Oortmerssen method for small and medium displacement hulls
o Guldhammer - Based on the studies by Andersen and Guldhammer for slow displacement hulls.
o Fungs Method - The algorithm used in PERFORM is based on works by Sui Fung and Larry Leibmann, which is based on 69 regression coefficients and ideal for transom sterns
o Comptons Method - Compton’s method is applicable for small faster hulls and includes both hard chine and round bilge.

• Semi-Planing Hulls
o Savitsky-Brown method for planing hulls in displacement region

The available methods are validated against the tested data and published references. Validation of the methods are available in the reference manual.

Main Features are
o Five independent methods for displacement hulls and one method for planing hulls (and more under development)
o Facility to input appendage
o Professional reporting and email facility
o Ideal for surveyors
o Widely accepted and proven algorithms
o Naval Architects can predict the resistance and power during design phase
o Ship owners can use it to optimise the tow speed and tug selection, in case of towage

Great tool for Naval Architects and design engineers during early design phases. Handy tools for surveyor to independently cross check the tug selection in case of towage of ship hulls.

It generates professional report that can be readily made part of the calculation report. Integrated email facility to send the report for peer review.

Free version allows user to test the default data (50m x 12m x 3.3m draft) within 10% tolerance.
